I just need to stop going on Gaia.

Gaia, seriously?

"Native American" items?

Way to enforce stereotypes. Way to lump every single Native tribe in the Western hemisphere into one enormous monolith. Way to label these things as if a feather headdress and the kachina are from the exact same culture. Way to get your description of a sacred Hopi ceremony completely wrong. Way to be ( Read more... )

aargh, gaia, wtf

Atleast it's a step up from calling Native Americans "Indians"? And I think you should leave a feedback. Most of the people on Gaia probably don't even know that anything was done wrong, so they're not saying anything. :/

Aw, come on, it's not like it's the first time they do something like this!

If you're going to get outraged by this, then you should also be ouraged by everything else in your country... unless you've decided to deffend the Native American cause and only get outraged by this kind of things. Then it's ok.

BTW: Could you pleasse, AMERICANS, distinguish the BLATANT differences between Mexicans and other Latin American people?
Also, Mexico is in North America. Thank you.
And 5 de mayo is not our Independence Day.

BTW2: I don't care about Native AMERICANS that are not from MesoAMERICA, because I'm a nationalistic bitch.

Of course it's not. When did I ever say it was?

Aren't I? :S I figured I'd already demonstrated on this journal that I have numerous problems with my country of origin...

I was just going to rant about this, ugh.

I still think you should leave feedback. If they get bitchy, you can just point out the hypocrisy of SF people always getting dramarific over things like the accuracy of violins, guns, Japanese items (oh lord the weaboos), and other countless shit, but trying to invalidate other people's concerns at the same time.

P.S. You'd know I'd back you up. ;) I don't think I'd be a good OP since my knowledge is based more on Canadian Aboriginal tribes, but the "lumping in" issue is pretty much the same with both countries.

Eh, I'd still be nervous about it because I'm not exactly an expert on (United States-centric) Native issues, I just know more than the average person.

But you guys have encouraged me, so I'll see if I have time tonight to post something there. ^__^

And the average person on Gaia seems to be a flailing bucket of slime nowadays. Everyone wins! (or loses?)
