interesting - I do icons similar to those and that isn't at all how I make them...maybe that would explain why yours turn out so well ;) nice tut :)

Yeah, I suppose everyone has their own way of doing it; it's a matter of preference :)
Mine seems to be the lazy way, haha ;D
Anyhoo, thanks a lot! Glad you like it :D

I don't know - the polygonal lasso tool makes my head hurt! I just have so little patience with it. If you want to know, I just add a layer mask and then erase and un-erase until I get it the way I like it. Its hit and miss sometimes...

Ahh, I never did understand layer masks! Hence my coming up with this way instead :P
I know what you mean though, the PL tool does take a while to get used to, and it can be quite tedious, but I prefer the results I get with it :))

It makes me want Photoshop CS but some of us have to make do with Elements 5.0 =S

Aww, sorry! I take it it's not translatable then? I'm afraid I have no knowledge of any non-PS programmes D:

Photoshop Elements 5.0 has everything CS has except selective colouring, colour balance and channel mixer...basically us element users are dependant on fill layers and photo filters LOL but I don't think my icons over at doctor_boosh are too bad, I make the best out of a bad situation =P

Ugh! I know what you mean! I have Elements too and feel so cheated that I don't have access to selective colouring. I have to rely a lot on levels, hue/saturation, and fill layers. But you have to work with what ya got and it could be worse (i.e. no Photoshop of any kind D=).

Ahhh, I have seen into your genius mind now! ;)

Such a brilliantly, fantastic tutorial, Harad! I love it. Very informative and yay for colouring. I must try this out soon. Probably sometime next week or so. Right now, I'm practising my French - boring. :O

I've always not had much patience when it comes to cutting things out in Photoshop but with this, you just make it seem so simple! ♥

Thank you so so so so much! :)

EEEP, ONLY ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!! :D

LOLOL what genius?? :P

Bah for French! Hope it works ok for you when you get the chance to try it :D

Yeah, I never used to either, mostly because it always looked all pixelated and it annoyed the crap out of me :P

You are verreh welcome! ^_^

HOMG KJHSFSAHF SQUEE ♥

This whole community! That's the genius I'm on about! ♥

Bah for French indeed - it's boring the hell out of me. I hate French grammar, it's ghastly. And I'm sure it will work fantastically because it is cleverly done. :)

I always seem to get really jagged edges whilst using the Pologonal Lasso Tool, therefore I tend to stray away from it but I like the way you do this, therefore, I shall most definitely try it!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE! :) :D

Wonderful tutorial!~ Thanks for posting it. Though I knew majority of the stuff, seeing the way you do it gave me some good tips. ^__^

Btw, wouldn't it be much less work if you use Quick Mask Tool instead of the Polygonal Lasso Tool? O.o I always find it really easy and quick to do so. xD

Thanks very much! Yeah, I find it usually helps to see the way other icon-makers do things, just to pick up little tips :)

Well as I've never figured out how to use it, I can't say, haha ;D
I'm not saying people have to use this way, but it's an alternative I guess :))
