Room 328, Saturday Evening

Jun 21, 2008 22:58

Sam wasn't home yet. He'd left this afternoon with Dean and he wasn't home yet.

This was...not good.

How long did she have to wait before calling the clinic without sounding crazy?

[ooc: Door and post are open if anyone wants.]

328, hell gods suck ass, sam

Okay, so she hadn't found Hades or anything like that, but she probably shouldn't go hunting for him, 'cause she promised people she'd be sane, and so she was going to --

Rikku stopped mid-thought, noticing that Dawn's door was open, and Dawn was inside her door, and Dawn ... didn't look so good.

"Dawn?"

"No, it doesn't," she laughed. "His hometown did, and that was some assignment they all had, patrolling sector eight. I guess Sector Eight's gonna mean Luke's from now on. He was all giddy."

She smiled at the rest of it. "It ... kinda is, you know? We go spar sometimes, and ... I hate saying that, 'cause Jude was always ... he kept saying I'd rather have a fighter than him. And I wouldn't. Except for the fact that Jude wasn't okay with it, you know?"

"Now I wanna know where sectors one through seven are," she mused, smiling slightly. "Yeah. I know it's easier for me to be me--I mean, all of me--because Sam's okay with it. Well, sort of okay with it. He hates that I do the fighty parts, but he doesn't usually try to stop me, y'know? I don't know what I'd do if I had to be with someone who expected me to be all normal. It's not about what you'd rather--because you'd probably still be with Jude if he was here, y'know? But it's easier, in some ways."

"That's -- yeah, that's exactly it," Rikku said, relieved and nodding along quickly. "There are people that don't ... shake their heads and go 'that's awful that you had to fight,' they can say 'hey, you kick ass.' I'm proud of it. And you and Sam ..."

She smiled, shrugging a little. "He's protective, but he knows you can handle yourself, yeah? I mean, he let you come along when we ... did the whole dream-thing. Which I'm still sorry about if that was a bad idea, 'cause ... it might've been, but ... you know."

She wasn't positive Sam knew she could handle herself, but that was an issue for a different day. "He didn't let me, y'know. I just said I was and he said then he was coming in case something went flooey, which it's good that he did, but it's not like he would have said no and I would've said 'oh, okay, dear. would you like a nice dinner?'" Dawn snorted. "Wow, so not us. Besides, if it was a bad idea, it was my bad idea and I didn't know what kind of issues we'd have, right?"

Rikku snickered. "I meant, you know. He could have been all NO, DON'T GO and then you'd have to suckerpunch him and and teach him a thing or two about being your own girl and all that. And ... it was, and ... I so didn't realize things might go wonky. But he's ... they're happy. Him and Yunie. He plays blitz and they travel and ..."

Maybe it was stupid, she just wanted Dawn to know ... what it meant, to her, and all of them, to have him back.

She shook her head. "Can you imagine that? Some guy being all, NO, YOU CAN'T, GRRR."

"I'm glad they're happy and together. Someone should get the happy ending, right?" Dawn smiled. "No, I really can't. I'm lucky, though--all the guys I know except their girl to be able to take care of herself, even if they don't love it when she has to. And now you are, too."

"Yeah," Rikku smiled. "It's ... amazing that she gets one. Who knows. Maybe we're all gonna get them. Stranger things have happened. Especially since this is Fandom, right?"

Dawn wrapped her arms around herself as she continued to stare out the window. Please let her happy ending be on his way home. "Yeah, I guess so. It's not Sunnydale, anyway."

He had to be okay. Had to. She wasn't going to accept the alternative, dammit.

"It's not Spira, either," Rikku said, nodding. "Even Spira got better."

She frowned. "It may not be staying better. Stupid governments."

"What's wrong with the government?" Not that she was looking for a distraction or anything.

Rikku made a face. "We shut them down, because ... they were evil and bad? And now they're starting up again anyway. That's the fun bit about saving the world, nobody lets it stay saved. That's, like, reason #28 we need a club."

"We're gonna have to have meetings by remote," Dawn said, thinking of Mel and Luke off in other galaxies and dimensions. "But yeah, that's definitely the sucky part."

"We should send out newsletters," Rikku said. "Meet up for teleconferencing slumber parties. It's gonna be okay, I think. Uh. We're trying, anyway. Things ... work out, sooner or later, it just doesn't always look like it will, you know?"

This was possibly about the current situation, yes. Rikku failed at subtlety.

"Yeah," Rikku said, reaching over to offer another quick hug. "Waiting's always the really crappy part. Ask for lots of sex later, to make it up to you."
