Oh, the things you can do!

I understand now why people have children. Not that I am about to pop out some awful Littlest Never, mind you, but I know what makes people suddenly go feverish with the desire to hear the patter of little feet: Maker Fair. People want children so they can take them to the San Mateo fair grounds in May (ideally without waiting in completely dead- ( Read more... )

and teach them how to solder on the dining room table.

::sniff:: Mom kicked us out to the workbench in the garage when she figured out what we were up to. I guess that was fair, since she really liked that tablecloth.

Glad you had a good time. :) J's video of the crab assembly made me realize how much I'd missed.

Well, that and lead-based solder in the dining area is probably not so wise. :}

Half of "my" LA was up there this weekend. Glad to hear it went off well.

It was quite the social scene at Maker Fair this year. I couldn't walk ten feet without running into someone I knew.

We must have 2-3 degrees of separation.

One degree. I see someone I know on your friends list.

Did you see the rotisserie children on 2πr? Adorable!

Yes, Makerfaire is a dangerous thing for the geek breeding drive.

I missed the rotisserie children because I had to leave before the sun went down on Saturday and I didn't make it back on Sunday. As a result, I caught the beginning of the fire stuff, but I probably missed some of the more spectacular effects.

Heh, actually most of my issue with children are the parents. I have always wanted "thank you for not being an ass-hat parent!" badges to hand out.

I volunteered at Maker-faire on Thursday which was "Education day" ... and there is nothing that makes me want to smack people more than the holier-than-everyone-else attitude some home-school parents adopt.

I am deeply disappointed to see that this link does not actually involve hitting small children over the head with blunt objects.

doh. False advertising on my part. I see your urge to breed is as atrophied as ever. Thank god.

"just as long as I'm making robots and not children."
Though the act of psuedo-making children - nothing wrong with that!

Next year, which is sure to be bigger again - skip that exit and get off on El Camino - avoids most of the mess.

I still love your stream-of-consciousness writing :)
