Bargaining

It turns out that I am an optimist after all. I see my eyeball as half full. It is still not possible to see out of my left eye, especially since the meniscus wobbles straight through the middle of my line of vision. If I tilt my head down, I can look through the liquid and the world becomes a fish bowl. I can reasonably expect the gas bubble to ( Read more... )

I imagine it's difficult to summon patience right now, but I'm glad to hear that you're looking on the bright side, so to speak. What is your costume this year, anyway? And did you go trick or treating as a child? I don't know why that popped into my mind, but the thought of you dressing up and going door-to-door for candy as a girl just doesn't seem plausible, though there's no reason why it shouldn't be. Please tell me you dressed up as a princess, one without an axe in her chest.

Oh, I went trick or treating. I learned early on that rich people have all of the best candy, so I did my trick or treating in Pacific Heights. I think that somewhere around six years old, I may have dressed up as an unironic princess. I also took ballet. This phase did not last long.

One very exciting thing happened with my vision the other day: I noticed that the grey spot in my peripheral vision is gone. My vision in my left eye is still uselessly blurry, but this is an indication that once the air bubble is gone and I have new corrective lenses, I will probably get all of my eyesight back.

This is good news!!! I will even insert an emoticon in celebration: =D

Please tell me that you will do as you're told and take it easy and not rush things and possibly injure yourself. Or don't tell me, just do it. Like Eliot told us, life is very long. If your eye needs an extra week, take the extra week. Okay? Okay.

I was just thinking that I might wear that gown to a masquerade this weekend. I need a red silk eyepatch.

I wound up skipping the masquerade anyhow. It turns out that I am not quite so ready to dress up and go out as I'd thought. Once this week was enough. I am hoping I will be back in fine form in time for the Halloween festivities.
