Being Wrong, the Review

I finally finished Being Wrong yesterday. I found it slow going, not because I wasn't enjoying it--although I do think that the first couple of chapters are the most dense--but because I needed to stop and digest and think about how what Schulz says resonates with my own experiences ( Read more... )

So this is the book I was reading today at the polls. Yes, I'm finding the first bits very dense and wordy. Which is to say, they are rich with information, but yeah, lots to get through. I'm glad the rest of the book sounds like it will taper off from that.

I made it through Chapter 1, it is a hellish slog. She keeps bringing up a point, going into it to death, then saying "oh I know I have gone on a lot in this chapter but I'm almost done" then 40 pages later it's time for chapter 2.

I look at chapter 2 with dread. Also oddly enough each time I read the word "wrong" in it my mind gets a little tired. It's a tiring book because wrong fires a lot of neurons in my head.

Which itself is fascinating. I'll have to write about the self-diagnostics I have been doing on this.

I say go read one of the later chapters (the one on medical errors is fascinating) and come back. I think it is not so linear that you'll feel like you're flipping to the last page of the mystery :)
