My Choice

I don't much enjoy talking about electoral politics online and I usually find that there are other people representing my point of view admirably in most of the forums I frequent. But this time around, I'm seeing a lot of people on my f-list excited about Obama and that leads me to make my choice more visible:

Your horse is not my horse, but it's nice to see someone making an articulate case for her.

IAWTC.

And I'm glad you'll vote! And I'll quite happily vote for her in nine months, if given the chance.

I hope that no matter who wins the nomination, this has electrified some of the disenfranchised to get out and vote. That and that pretty much all of the US knows that Shrub is a complete tosser.

There was an interesting comment on NPR from the NH elections. There was a woman who was trying to make her mind up, she really liked Clinton and Obama. And she spoke to her daughter about it who explained to her mother that growing up she had been taught to to support other women to grow and when there was a legitimate choice, to give the woman a chance.

I agree, it's been a long time coming since there's been a viable woman candidate and as much as we all like the idea of "OMG, ANYTHING but the status quo" I worry that the days of JFK are over and it's an overly optimistic bandwagon without definitive direction other than "not here, anywhere but here". I have to admit, I'd love to see what a woman president would do for the US. She's a reasonable choice to me.

(nods) Go you!
I am trying to remind myself that oscillating between two OK choices is actually a very good place to be.

Thanks for making those points! I am excited about Obama, but I also feel good about Hillary for some of the same reasons you have expressed. It's really good to feel so inspired in various ways by both my first and second choice. And I'm glad to see people talking about why they support other folks besides Obama (who is sweeping my flist as well).
