I've cleared up the mess of coke pallets in the laundry room, breaking them down for recycling pickup tomorrow. i think that this comes partly from what you think you can control. i'd optimize my life for painlessness if i had the least idea how, but i don't. so i actually go for two things: kindness and intellectual interest.

Before I even read the last line, I knew I was going to jump in and tell you what I optimize for. It's quite an interesting way to conceptualize one's life!

I'd say, "fulfillment of my potential", with a side order of "community."

Excellent question, preliminary results would suggest for safety and survival. I would like to think happiness would be up there as well and I'm surprised it doesn't come to mind sooner in response.

It's a good question to chew on for a few days.
