Oh LM, this is stunning. Absolutely beautiful. You have Weslah under your thumb. Lilah not even trying to reconcile the two kinds of memories she has of him, the rough and the smooth, seeing them as these two radically different things ... I found that fascinating, because Wesley doesn't strike me as a character who is particularly split. Dark!Wes is the same as the fumbling guy with the silly curly hair. So the way I read it, Lilah's splitting him up falsely- maybe because she's made such sharp divisions in her own life. And then, at the end, she goes into full-on performance mode. That's real Lilah, but it's a mask too, and it's sad and bittersweet and provocative all at once.
I do? Thank you very much. Dark!Wes is the same as the fumbling guy with the silly curly hair. Wow, that's really, really, really interesting. You'll have to go into that some more. I suppose it all comes down to whether he always had the potential to go dark, had the situation with Connor not arisen. I wrote a story set around Spin the Bottle where Wes in his Head Boy-memory-loss mode discovers all that's happened to him, and he has difficulty reconciling the two. I suppose, maybe, I've split him unconsciously myself. Hmmmm, I need to think more on this!! That's real Lilah, but it's a mask too, and it's sad and bittersweet and provocative all at once. I think, somehow, she's useless at hiding herself from Wes. And that is exciting, unnerving and also tempting for her. Thank you! You've certainly given me a lot to think about.
Thank you very much. I think Lilah is all about the show, so making sure that there's nothing wrong with her (even on the outside) is really important to her.
As frimfram noted, this line They never made love. But they always did was brilliant.
You capture their whole relationship so well, with telling little details here and there and brilliant insights into their characters. Wonderful stuff.
I'm really glad that line worked because as I was thinking about it later, I wondered if she would actually think that. But then I guess it's easy to get sentimental when you're stuck in Hell! with telling little details here and there and brilliant insights into their characters. I always try to get inside them, and think what they would think so I'm glad you mentioned that. Thanks a lot for your very kind comments. I want to write more Weslah now! Everyone's making me excited for it.
I haven't read much of it, and I'm beginning to think that more wouldn't go amiss, in spite of lack of Spike. Well, that's good to hear :) I suppose there's always a way of working Spike into everything, subtly though. Have you ever read missmurchison's Spike/Lilah stories? They're great. I haven't, as it happens. I should go do that now, shouldn't I? :)
Lovely, Lillian. All the suspended contrariness of everything and those hot remembrances of Wesley and her as perverse lovers. It was such an interesting relationship and you've captured what was so interesting about it.
Thanks very much for your great comments. It was such an interesting relationship and you've captured what was so interesting about it. Thanks very much. It's certainly interesting to me, especially as they both seemed to reverse their earlier personalities and project onto the other by being in the relationship.
