Well yay for the flat! Yeah, and you have a point about the sports stars, and some live entertainers. At least most of us don't have to deal with hundreds of people booing our failures!
A new week is a new start. Here's hoping this next one brings some good things.
Thank you! Yeah, I just kinda appreciate people that fail and then pick themselves up and say "I just gotta do it." It's so easy to slip down and find excuses not to. A new week is a new start. Here's hoping this next one brings some good things. Thank you! That's a really neat thing to say. I hope you have a good week too ::sending you lots of good summer vibes::
Fingers crossed on your getting the job that you want. I didn't know you were back in England, but I'm delighted that you are. Even though it makes no difference in cyberspace, you being in NZ or UK, somehow you seem to be closer when you're in the UK. Which must have something to do with Britain being an imagined territory for me and NZ not. Best of luck to you. I love that you're back on LJ.
Thank you so much :) I didn't know you were back in England, but I'm delighted that you are. Thanks again :) I made a post about 2 weeks ago maybe...anyway it doesn't matter as it's nice to see you around here. I hope you're doing well :) somehow you seem to be closer when you're in the UK. Which must have something to do with Britain being an imagined territory for me and NZ not. Hmmmm, that's a really interesting observation. I wonder if it's also something that I convey. I always prefer being in the UK, I feel more alive here. But things are easier for me in New Zealand - and it's also the place I was born, where my family is, where I will always return. It takes me a while to get my head around the differences :) I love being back on LJ too. It's very nice to catch up with what everyone's doing. :)
Yay you for landing a flat! Especially on a nice, tree-lined street, because I feel that trees are important to the soul. And also to the air, obviously.
Good luck on your interviews, hon! I just know you're going to land an excellent job. As always, I'm impressed by the strength and grace of your attitude. You go!
Trees are definitely important for the soul! They bring shade and breezes and the green makes you feel secure. :) The air is good too! As always, I'm impressed by the strength and grace of your attitude. You go! Thank you very much! I feel that I have to keep working at the strength and grace all the time - sometimes it's very, very hard. I also have to tell myself often - and put out what I want to receive back. But, really, it's infinitely more hard work being miserable.
Ooh! That's fantastic news about the flat/apartment/whatever! And it sounds great - you must be pleased. :)
They weren't meant to be - because something better is waiting around the corner. Yes. This. It's hard to do sometimes, but really it's the best way to think about it. Stay optimistic and the right job will come along - good luck with your interviews on Monday!
Huh. Kind of an interesting concept for an exhibition. I wonder how many of those artists would consider themselves punk?
One showed photographs of a piece of performance art where the performers had a threesome on stage. I was just trying to imagine if this kind of thing would ever happen now. But that was really the heyday of performance art. It's not done so much these days - which is interesting, because I think it often tended to be about shock value - the artist(s) wanting to shake things up, our notions of what's acceptable and all that, and maybe that doesn't fly so much any more? It could be because we've seen it all before and we're less repressed... Ooh,

Eeeee! Thanks for the good wishes with the flat/apartment/whatever :) And thanks for the good luck wishes too ::crosses fingers:: Yes. This. It's hard to do sometimes, but really it's the best way to think about it. It *is* hard - but it's worse to have regrets and negative headspaces, isn't it? Just gotta keep truckin'. I wonder how many of those artists would consider themselves punk? It could be because we've seen it all before and we're less repressed... Yes, very good point. I hadn't really thought about that - probably because I'm *so* indoctrinated with (what would have been perceived in the 70s as) shock images from films and advertising and tv programmes that I didn't think further. But that was really the heyday of performance art. It's not done so much these days - Yes, good point. I mean, I suppose you have someone like Christo who's more into wrapping things up, than exposing them. Or there are different levels of shock - like Tracy Emin's bed, or a display of anti-war posters on display in the Tate Britain. Or you have

Wooo for the new flat! And good luck with the job hunting and future interviews. You sound like you have a really smart, mature, positive attitude about it, which I'm sure will work in your favor.
Thanks so much! I am looking forward to the flat - and getting all my stuff in there, instead of crammed into bags ;) You sound like you have a really smart, mature, positive attitude about it, which I'm sure will work in your favor. Thanks! I'm working really, really hard on it! ;)
