Nation nightclub is closing this summer

For those who missed the notice, Nation will be closing on July 16.

They're trying to pack in a few more good bands as well as Freaks United on July 4th. The final night for Alchemy will be July 13. After that, I'm sure we'll come up with something else, so don't despair! :D

I hadn't heard yet, mostly because I thought I didn't care. But, I am a little bummed. Probably just nostalgia for a different part of my life though, and not any actual affection for the club.

Even though I didn't go so often lately and have been doing other things instead, I kinda liked the fact that it was there if I wanted to go, and it was a comfortable place to be after going so often in the past.

Next Christmas all the people who have moved out of town will show up on the construction site and not know where to find us! XD

if you took the time to contact them other than at the club they would know - and i would wager money that most people who leave and return to visit aren't going to go to the club - he i don't.

If they had bothered to leave contact info when they finished college and moved away, I might have contacted them. The club is usually the best place to find people who don't bother telling folks they'll be in town, but just show up. I don't think I've even seen YOU since you moved.

so nation is closing...., big deal just wait because.....,

comming soon at a theatre near you - the same people (all old) acting like children because they can't bear the thought of growing up, doing the same things at a similar place - whatever.

some of you of course don't fit into this category and for you i know you will miss having a place that was such a huge part of your lives. forgive me if i don't seem to care. move away from that shithole of a city and you will see how and why one club shouldn't even be a blip on the radar (once youre past say 21) when it closes.

I go there because friends do.
I ask them if they want to hang out, and they say "Sure, come to Alchemy!". Seems to be all some of them want to do ... so I've found new friends and other things to do. It does get to be the same old, same old, going every week for years.

Yeah, I see it as our once-a-week "local drinking hole". Like Cheers, but with less drinking and more to talk about since last time, since it's only once a week.

I just hope whatever replacement comes along is on a weekend night. I'd probably go more often in that case. I'm too old, and responsible, to stay up late on a weeknight regularly anymore.
