Yes, it's true. At the end of last year, it looked good for our chances of another full year at Nation, but developments (literally) in the neighborhood have resulted in a change in plans. To keep this post mostly Alchemy-related, I am providing a link here to a
PDF of Nation's official statement.
Alchemy has had a great run, at The Cage, briefly at The Black Cat and 2K9, and now for 4-1/2 years at Nation. While we enjoyed success at The Cage, we were only able to truly put on one of the best events in the country when we moved into Nation. The staff and the management have consistently supported us, taken chances on us, and been cool to our patrons. We've been told over and over that Alchemy was the favorite night of the week to work for many on staff, because they could actually have fun even when they were working.
While this closing comes sooner than we had thought, it does not catch us by surprise. I made a statement in December that we believed we would have one more year, but as soon as that situation changed, I was made aware of this possibility. In order to allow all promoters and the club to make a simultaneous statement, we've had to hold onto this news for a bit, but I just want to be clear that I think Nation management have been as cool about this as is humanly possible, and I have even more respect for the way they do business than ever. By allowing us almost four-months' notice, they have given us (and the other promoters) a chance to go out with a bang, and that is exactly what we're going to do.
There will be another announcement coming soon about a huge event we've just confirmed, and other plans for the future, so stay tuned. We have a lot of old friends who will be making one more appearance, either in the DJ booth or on our stage, but you know it wouldn't be Alchemy if we weren't also planning to bring you new people right up until the end.
Thank you so much to everyone who has come along with us on our journey so far:
