She's been so stupid. How can she have been so stupid? It's one thing to have told Annie about the connection she has to her physical appearance, but to go so far as to prove a point by grabbing the woman and kissing her like that? For one thing, it's served to make Luce as confused as ever. It hadn't been the same, not like with Rachel, but it ( Read more... )

It'd pure coincidence that he's in the vicinity of his room himself.

Freshly showered after the jog he'd taken (an activity that's approaching normal for him, if he forgets the jungle surrounding him part of it), he ends up choosing his room over the rec room to relax for a while. He's laying in bed when he hears the footsteps approach, but it's only when he realizes they sound like they stop right outside the curtain that covers his door frame that he decides to investigate. Any question on who was doing something outside is gone when he catches the strong scent of flowers. He opens the curtain, though simply leans against his door after he does, a slight smile crossing his face.

"So either you're Luce or I just caught an admirer leaving me a present," he says, though there's no question in his mind who's standing there. Tilting his head in the general direction he thinks she's standing, he adds, expression a little more mischievous, "Or maybe it's both?"

She's terrified and glad at being caught, all at once. Instantly, she knows that at least she'll have something to take her mind off her guilt. At the same time, now she's going to be suitably reminded of that same guilt. "Well, I'm definitely Luce. Or I could be the woman who looks just like her, putting on an incredible show of impostering."

"Complete with flower delivery and the same accent? I'd be impressed," he says, arms crossing against his chest. "Granted, I'd still be able to tell. There's always some difference I'd be able to pick up. I've gotten pretty good at telling people apart. So, how's it going, Luce?"

"Well, maybe I'm very impressive," she says, bending down in order to pick up the bouquet. It's better to hand-deliver it if he's actually at home. She approaches and holds out the flowers until the petals softly brush against his palm. She focuses on the curve of the petal rather than how she feels because it's terrible, to put it plainly. "I've had better days, Auggie," she replies, trying to force cheer. "How are you?"
