Day 27 - Prompt: Trapped

Content warning: off-page deaths, violence and implied threat of abuse against an underage catgirl, and a homework induced lack of editing.

I originally came up with Nyalla in as part of an example in a discussion about catgirls in RPGs on rpg.net. And yes, at this point in her life Nyalla's life doth suck.

Nyalla curled up tight as she could in the bottom of the supply locker, ears twitching with every sound in the work bay outside. The floor shook, the sound a crate shattering seeming to come from just on the other side of the door.

"Worthless! I saw Jakob carrying out a whole crate of rune stones and what's in here, busted gears!"

"Maybe if you'd questioned that last one before gutting him."

She squeezed herself tight around her diary, the only thing she'd had time to grab before Lanny pushed her in the locker. Before the people outside killed him. Another crate shattered and Nyalla couldn't help it, crying out before she could stop herself. Covering her mouth a moment too late.

"Oho! We've got a straggler somewhere. Come on out, tell me where the good stuff is and I'll kill you fast."

"Yer a real genius Kenzie, who wouldn't come out for that."

Nyalla pushed herself as deep into the locker as she could. Something slamming against the door sending splinters of wood to fall on her. The door torn away a moment later.

"Damn, wrong one. Must be that--"

The rags Lanny had tossed over her were slapped away, firm hands pulling her out of the locker.

"Like I said Kenzie, genius." The hands lifted her up and Nyalla dared crack open an eye. A black haired elven woman, staring back at her. "Well, you're too messy to be a cabin boy. Must be the ships pet."

The woman lifted her a little closer. "Huh, hey Kenz' youch!" Nyalla slapped out at the woman's cheek, not even realizing she was clawing her until she saw four little tracks of red appear.

Dropped by the startled woman she hit the deck and sprang for the door. Only have a blade slam down just in front of her, barely missing her nose. Tripping over the shaft the blade was attached to as she tried to spring over it.

Sprawled on her back she finally saw Kenzie. A giant of a man who would have to crouch anywhere on the ship but the work bay, with a nose that looked like it had been punched flat long before. Who was already thrusting a matching spear at her.

Eyes squeezed shut again Nyalla cried out as she felt the blade land, pinning her by her shorts to the floor.

"What'd you do that for Sarah? Louis said no prisoners on this on."

"Just keep him, oh, keep her there."

"Her?" The way the giant suddenly stared down at her torn shorts made trying to run feel like a good idea again. But before she could do more than press her hands and feet to the floor his foot pressed down on her tail. "Uh-uh, don't even think about it kitten."

Sarah returned a moment later dumping old rags out of a wire-mesh sided crate before setting the crate down.

"In it girl."

Nyalla took one look at the crate and shook her, "W-won't fit."

"If you want to live, get in. Otherwise Kenzie gets to chase you around again."

She looked at the crate again, and at the vicious looking blade in Kenzie's hand and crawled into the box. Grabbing her tail as the lid came down and was nailed in place.

"What about Louis, he said no prisoners on this one."

"She's not a prisoner. We're supposed to pull anything useful off before we torch the ship. She's going in with the rest of the supplies."

"Huh. Whatever. Let me borrow her and I'll back you."

"Kenzie, just shut your mouth and get back to searching before I have to do anything you'll regret."

Nyalla tried to curl up tight as she could again. Squeezing her eyes shut and ears down, wishing it was all just a nightmare and she'd wake up soon.
