Yeah. It was a group of non-heroic mercenaries that hit the ship, their client wanting to wipe it out before it could reach a supporter. Of course her ship was used by a not really all that much better group of mercenaries, only she was part of their group so they would have treated her better.
Since I'm not planning on writing the immediate aftermath... What Sarah was about to ask Kenzie before Nyalla clawed her was whether he thought the kid looked like one of their mechanics who was also a cat-person. Fortunately the answer for her continued presence among the living the answer was that yes, he was in fact an older brother (the family had ended up scattered some time before), who was allowed to take her on as an apprentice. Fortunately not just because it prevented the, "Kill 'em all," order form being carried out on her, but because Kenzie might to scum, but he was scum smart enough not to upset a mage-armor carrying airship mechanic (or he might have been asked to take a short walk off the ship while it was still in flight).
