The birthday came and went without much fanfare.

I woke up to a phone call from my mother (who's a reinstated Jehovah's Witness).  She said, "Now you know we don't celebrate birthdays, but I wanted to call and tell you the story of your birth."...(she was giggling & quite honestly, I had never heard the story so I was looking forward to it!)..."
