Raptors and Rapture

Yesterday I did something I have not felt I could do for ages - I spent most of the morning and all the afternoon lying in bed reading, in this case Guy Gavriel Kay's Ysabel of which more is to follow. At eleven or so, I got up, and Ina and I walked the couple of miles

Ysabel by Guy Gavriel Kay.

The book takes place in Provence, and the place is superbly evoked. Which is great because it is one of my favourite places, too. I am not sure if the story on which the book is based comes from a real folktale or not, but certainly the history is correct. If it is out of his head then it is the first thing he has ever written not based on myth or history. (Makes note to check Provencal legends.)

Makes note to blow some of my birthday Amazon voucher on this as soon as I get organised...

I think the Stephen, Abby, Connor thing had pretty much played itself out. Connor fancied Abby, Abby didn't fancy Connor, both were aware of this fact so it was hard to take further without one or the other looking incredibly stupid, it would be clever if they were to grow Connor up a bit over the next couple of seasons which would give Abby an opportunity to re-evaluate ( ... )

I do wonder if the producers watched Torchwood and thought, 'this is the way to do it'.

There was a point where Rosie said "They are all complete idiots" which summed it up for me.

Where is the physics professor they would have roped in within five minutes.

The truth is that they have been influenced by Dr Who (especially the Troughton era) and most of the episode consisted of people running around to no great purpose. PT and cohorts used to read the script very slowly at rehearsals so they had fewer lines to learn. The show had to fill in with running sequences when they acted at normal speed.

My theory is that Lester is and has been consulting the physicists, but they are all telling him that the anomalies are impossible under current theory and are sulking...

Yeah, but when its left to the archaeologist to discover noise in the electromagnetic spectrum....

Next episode I expect him to pull out a sonic screwdriver he made on his day off.

Don't give the scriptwriters ideas (particularly as one of them is Paul Cornell.)

I simply love your pictures. You have such a great eye for context and subtlety (I'm assuming these are yours). And you have so many more interesting things around you than can be found here in the republic of California. lol

All depends on what you're used to, I suppose. (Though I've watched the piebald filly in the front of the picture grow from a very young foal..)
