I'll be posting my take on it tonight. I agree with you on some points, but I felt that Snyder went a little overboard on the more adult aspects of the film. The novel was more creative with Dr. Manhattan's nudity, while the film seemed to revel in it. It's not to say that we never saw his junk, we just didn't see it at every turn. :)
Also, you make a good point that if you haven't read the novel, the movie is somewhat vague ... which, to my mind, is a liability. Accessibility should be a priority to the audience, not a prerequisite.
BTW, you free this weekend? We can chat up the sekret project in August. :)

I was sad that it was lacking a certain giant psychic cephalopod... but I feel that the changes kept the essence of the story.
J, of course, complained about the blue penis. However, he never managed to finish reading the GN either, so I blame it on that. He did like the movie though.
