Watchmen

I read a review that was positive. It said that the film is not
afraid to be as dense as its source material. I think sums up alot of
the move. Lots of talking, speeches, etc.

The reason I enjoyed it so much is because it was brutally faithful
to the comic, so much that some of the nuances will be completely
lost to people who have never read it. It's also a visual masterpiece
and I think Zack Snyder has done a great job. The problem is that someone
who hasn't read the book is going to leave the film saying "so what?".

The changes in the movie are minor and most of the minor character's are only
in cameos. The Ending change is acceptable, that's all I'll say on that.

My only complaint is that Rorscach was hard to understand because he was using the Christian Bale gravel batman voice, so listen closely when he
talks or you'll miss your favorite lines from the story.

Now for the good stuff:

Nite Owl: Well done, Wilson does a great job. He was always one of my favorite characters.

Ozymandius: Sad that Jude Law turned this down. Goode was acceptable, just
not awesome. Although that has always been my complaint about the story, its
the weakest character.

Manhattan: Crudup rocked it. But that is also the problem, Manhattan is crazy boring. Some people will complain about the blue penis, but go back and
look at the comic, like I said above....brutally faithful.

Silk Spectre: Ya know, I think she did a good job. The problem people will have is that her lines sound corny. Again, reread the book, most of the things she says are corny. But I was pleasantly surprised by her performance.

Comedian: You will be sad when his flashbacks stop, just like in the comic. Morgan did a wonderful job.

Rorschach: best for last. Haley is perfect. His voice is hard to understand, but his best scenes from the comic are in there: The Prison sequence is pretty close to perfect, fry oil and all!

Soundtrack: Loved it.

Opening Credits: Wow, just wow. Very very cool.

Overall, its something that should be seen once, but imho, if you never read
the novel and understand its deeper meanings, the movie will be lost on you.

Oh, and its long. Real long. Don't go to happy beforehand!
