Help me make a soundtrack!

Hey all, since I know so many people with fantastic taste in music, I wanted to ask for some help. I'm working on a screenplay for my creative writing private reading, and I'm looking for some music to inspire me and to hopefully work into the script itself. My general plot is (as Chris described it the other day, ha ha) an intellectual on-the-road ( Read more... )

Question: Are you looking for music that's solely instrumental? I have some music in mind that might have the right sound, except almost all of it has vocals.

In any case, I want to recommend that you check out Shugo Tokumaru, because most of his music has a sweet, simple sound that, I don't know, you might be able to use. I don't know that he's so big on piano, though. I'll have to search around my library for something like that. But! For the sake of excessively long comments, here's a couple links, if you want to hear what Shugo Tokumaru sounds like:

"La La Radio"
"Karte"

Hm. Maybe something like Mogwai? They're a mostly instrumental band with some fairly simple tracks. Slower than your sample, though. Here are a few possibly helpful ones:
Friend Of The Night
Acid Food

And this might not be such a great rec for your script/film because he's very lyrical and the music is a bit more complex, but I feel like Andrew Bird's style fits your plot well. Try these:
Imitosis
Skin Is, My

Best of luck! :)
