In any case, I want to recommend that you check out Shugo Tokumaru, because most of his music has a sweet, simple sound that, I don't know, you might be able to use. I don't know that he's so big on piano, though. I'll have to search around my library for something like that. But! And this might not be such a great rec for your script/film because he's very lyrical and the music is a bit more complex, but I feel like Andrew Bird's style fits your plot well. Try these:
