[catches her, because there's not much else for him to do, but -- it was far out of left field, and he's not sure what to do with it, but hold her and pressing a kiss to her forehead]
[She curls up in his arms and rests her head to his shoulder, letting the tears out for awhile, before drying her face]
A whole flight and only one little girl survived. We...had to tell all of those families that their loved ones didn't make it. Do you know how...draining that is?
[lifts her head up to rest her chin on his chest and look at him]
Her mom wasn't there yet. She had no one. And all of those families, every single one of them, stayed there for her. They waited while she was in surgery and...when her mom did show up? They took care of her.
They...they had all lost someone, and they were all in pain, but they stayed there. For a little girl that they didn't know.
