[There's a shivering Jack in the Violet city Pokecenter, trying to warm up his hands. His hair is damp, as are his clothes, and he looks pretty irritated. A woman comes over (she looks suspiciously like the nurse in Cherrygrove, what gives?) and hands him a blanket and a warm cup of what looks to be hot chocolate. "You and your Pokemon will be fine

He's uncomfortably warm and he hogs the bed.

Huh? Me?
[The question caught her by surprise a little-- but the hesitation doesn't last long. Her expression grows neutral and she shrugs.]
Not really.
I have a friend. That's about it.
[She still worries about Douglas, sometimes. Wonders how he's faring without her around. It wasn't like he had anybody else in his life... And really, neither had she. The world didn't really have much for them. Even though they'd saved it.]

Oh... well, we can both hope the people we care about will show up one day. But, uh, if you need another friend... I mean, I'm no good with advice or anything... or... well, much at all to be honest... but I'd be happy to listen to you if you ever need anyone to.

Heh, yeah... I'm not so sure how my friend would hold up here. He's a little old to be doing much hiking, but... not gonna lie, he'd be a sight for sore eyes. [Hell, maybe the fresh air would be good for him. She didn't like thinking about him sitting by himself in that nasty old apartment and not doing anything.]
[The offer gets a brow-raise from her, as well as a sort of crooked little smile. Normally she's more than a bit wary of strangers, but Raiden was so awkward and earnest that it came off as more sweet than creepy.]
Well, for reasons that elude me, I've somehow managed to get a lot of friends here. But I wouldn't say no to more.
Name's Heather.
What's yours?

He'd probably be glad to be back with you again. Besides, once the weather clears up it would be nice for him to sit in the sun with a Pokemon, I'm sure.
[Jack is wrapped in a blanket and holding a Magikarp in his arms. He's about as creepy as a baby Vulpix.]
You can call me Jack. It's a boring name, I know... nice to meet you, Heather.
Reply
Yeah. I worry about him sometimes. [She hoped he wasn't drinking too much...] Maybe he'll show up someday. Kinda hope so. Just so he won't be all by himself back there, y'know?
And heh, after all the crazy names I've heard here, something as simple as 'Jack' is a breath of fresh air. Nice t'meet you too.
So when'd you get here?
[Given the pure concentrated CRAZY of a couple weeks ago, she'd missed his previous posts to the network.]

Yeah... being lonely is no fun. I haven't heard any names that are... well, out there yet, so I guess I can't say. Heather is nice, though.
[He scratches his head, trying to think.]
Umm... like... a couple of weeks ago? I think, anyway... I'm no good at remembering dates, heh.

Aw, thanks!
And I guess I haven't heard anything totally off the wall, but with names like Snow, Phoenix, Roxas, yadda yadda floating around... [Not to mention ones like OTACON, SNAKE, AND LIQUID, but to be fair, those were code-names.
Reply
Well... those are kinda strange. I've heard some pretty weird codenames... including mine... but never any weird real names. I think if "Snow" was my real name I'd get it changed, heh.

[Something had caught her interest, though.]
Code-name?
You too, huh?
Reply
Huh? Yeah, my codename is Raiden. I never know whether I should be using that name or my real name around here... but it doesn't seem too dangerous here. Why, who else have you met with codenames?
Reply
Raiden, huh? That's... pretty badass, actually.
And uh-- ... like, a gazillion of my friends here. [... Aka three. Totally the same.]
Otacon, Snake, Liquid...
[Snake had tried to get HER to pick a code-name but had quickly given up when she wouldn't stop suggesting things like 'Plasmic Giraffe' or 'Pterodactyl'.]

I had no idea what it meant, actually... but then I found it it's the name of the Japanese god of thunder. So I guess it is pretty cool, in a way.
[He looks pretty happy upon hearing the first two names.]
You know Snake and Otacon, too?
Reply
Yeah, hence why I said it. [Heather was marginally familiar with various mythologies-- nothing extensive, but, WELL, when you were in the god-killing business...] Definitely gives off an aura of 'badass'. [... distinctly more than the poor awkward guy in the blanket with the Magikarp was giving off, BUT SHE'D JUST NOT MENTION THAT.]
[Instead, her brows rose in surprise.]
Wh-- yeah, they're my friends.
You too?
[... And then she pauses.]
Whoa, wait, are you from the same place they're from?
[Did EVERYBODY in their world have codenames???]
Reply
Yeah, they were helping me with my last mission before we even got here! I had no idea Snake was here, but Otacon contacted me not long ago. Did they say if anyone else was here? Wait- Liquid was dead. He died in 2005. So if he can come back... does that mean... Solidus might...?
[...Dammit.]
Oh jeez, I hope not...

[Heather, meanwhile, is still reeling a little-- there's been more and more people showing up from their world every day. First Otacon's dad, then that Raven fellow, and then (snerk) Naked... But first things first. She shakes her head a little bit and raises her hands.]
Okay-- I-- yeah, I know Liquid goes on to do crazy shit, but-- he's not like that here! He's-- like, he's younger than when that happens. Like, just a few years older than me. [And like twice the size and three times the crazy, but there you go.]
[Heather had already gotten used to Snake being wary of Liquid's intentions, despite his youth, and she figured it might be best to reassure Raiden of the same thing before they got any further.] When people are brought here, they can be brought from ANY time, so-- I mean, there have been people showing up from MY world who I knew were dead, too ( ... )
