Would video game fandoms be okay to use? Example: using things from any of the Assassin’s Creed games.

Yes, definitely. :) I'm not familiar with Assassin’s Creed, but a quick google search told me that the timeline is pretty much the actual Earth timeline, so it would fit in this challenge perfectly.

1978: Peter Bishop is born in the Alternate Universe (Fringe)

1985: Walter Bishop crosses over to the Alternate Universe to bring the cure to Alt-Peter but has to bring the boy back instead (Fringe)

2015: The Observers time-travel back and institute “The Purge” to wipe out much of humanity. (Fringe)

2015: Due to the efforts of Walter et. al, the timeline gets reset and the Purge never happens, leaving Peter, Olivia and Etta to live their lives peacefully. (Fringe)
