Would video game fandoms be okay to use? Example: using things from any of the Assassin’s Creed games.

Yes, definitely. :) I'm not familiar with Assassin’s Creed, but a quick google search told me that the timeline is pretty much the actual Earth timeline, so it would fit in this challenge perfectly.

ETA: It's totally okay if the events don't happen on Earth, like Firefly for example, as long as it's the same timeline as ours.

How strict should this be for "fandom"? Like, would "Schindler's List" or "Band of Brothers" count for it? (It's things that actually really happened.)

Yes, historical dramas like these would count - they're based on real events but fictionalized/dramatized, so they are a "fandom". :)

Do I need to have some specific thing to happen on that date, or can it just be "this movie takes place in 1916"?

Yes, it needs to be a specific event that takes place in canon. If the whole movie takes place in 1916, then you can pick any event from the movie (or multiple different events, if you like), and post it under 1916. :)

Yes, I figured that what I had written so far was okay but that is only four and you asked a minimum of five. I was struggling to come up with more but I get your point now.

I only just saw your comment, a 24-hour extension would be less than 6 hours now. :P You can just submit if you have your entry ready, I haven't tallied anything yet. :) If you don't, I'll extend it in the evening my time for another 24 hours (so 48 altogether).
