Doormat anyone?

Alright I have a situation I need your guys opinion. So there is this Guy (can you see where this is going) and I am kind of confused with some of his behavior so I thought since most of you people are guys I will ask what you think. Because right now two of my roommates are about to go have a "talk" with him (scary, scary) and Kip is about to go ( Read more... )

I think if he said it was a date and then brought someone else you'd have every right to feel put off. It's not up to your roommates to be angry - that's your job to handle. I could understand, though, talking to him, asking why he brought someone else on the date and getting things clarified.

It could be he's a big pushover and doesn't know how to say no?

Agree with the last sentence... Also, might have been a better point of valor if he found a fourth, preferably male, person to go so it didn't look so bad... Nothing wrong with double dating, as I'm sure you're sister can attest to, heh.

Dude, let's be clear (but not TOO clear!!!): I have no problem with threesomes as long as everyone's on board! Foursomes are great, too, IMHO, and let's just leave it at "the more, the merrier!".

Here's the rub: your roomates et all are all on the high horse about definitions. Is he your Boyfriend? are you Dating? Can he Call After 11? Stuff like this -- and that's OK, humans like to define stuff and get comfortable.

Do YOU want to? Do you want to have all this locked down? Do you mind that another person (who couldn't find a date) went along, too? Are you just dying for The Next Level of stare-into-his-eyes or what? Is there a reason you absolutely have to have this guy alone? They want this for you because by Defining you can also Progress To The Next Level -- and keep in mind Utah has only about 6 levels until you get proposed to. They just want to see you properly enslaved to married to a Good Mormon Boy ASAP.

Is this really what you WANT?If not, I suggest saying "I'm fine the way things are. We had a good time. ( ... )

I love Courtney to death but I think that we can both admit that she loves to meddle with other peoples love life because she doesn't have one. She means well, but it really isn't hers, Jenna's, and especially not Kip's business. You are a big girl and can make up your own mind on all of this. You are the best person to decide what you want, and I know that sometimes that is hard, but when it comes right down to it, the chances of them making a mess out of all of this is pretty good. If he just a push-over and didn't have time to find a date for the girl then Courtney and Jenna are just putting him in a really awkard situation and he might not want to even try anymore if he thinks that going out with you (even casually) means going out with your super-crazy-scary roommates too. Tell them thanks for the concern and means a lot that they have your six, but then tell them to climb off his back and let you worry about this. They are there only for advice - not action ( ... )

eh? Courtney does not have a love life? I've only seen her once and my stereotypical view of her is that she would have boyfriends all the time but she is very very picky and they have to look a specific way.

am I on the right track anyone?

Well first off savebean was talking about my roommate Courtney not me Courtney because as much fun as talking about me in the third person is we try and keep the crazies to a minimum.

But to reply to the intent of your post: HA AHAHAHAhahahah hahahahaha oooh hoo hohoho heee hehehehehe....

Me??? All that stuff about lots of boyfriends but very picky. Hardly, especially here in Utah. The last time I was asked out was more than a year ago. Actually in all my life I've only gone out with two people and in my 6 months at Gamestop I've only been hit on 4 times.

So as flattering as all that was, you are incorrect. Though Prin3 Ch4rming is of the opinion that interest level in my does go up when I am in Denver.

...Boys.

Anyways, I'm falling in the camp of "overreacting roommates". Yes, he shouldn't have invited another girl along, especially after telling you it was a "date". That being said, stuff happens, and he probably feels really bad about it. Did he offer up some kind of sheepish apology?

I'd say give him another chance, but make things are crystal clear that if it's a date, it's just you two. And get us a picture or something. =P

P.S. For the record, boys are more interested in you out here because they can appreciate a girl with some wit and a sense of humor. Well, that, and out there, child-bearing hips is probably higher on most guys' lists than useful traits like intelligence, and looking good all gothed up. ;)

No apology but I don't really care. Which brings me to my next point: from reading all this I have come to my solution. First I will tell my roommates to calm down, though really they already are. But as for Guy I will fall back onto one of my strongest abilities: going with the flow. If I have no expectations I can't be disappointed or confused. This might not be the healthiest reaction given my past but, hey, I have school and friends to attend to. I don't have time for this. So I won't worry about it.

Thank you everyone for your input: I feel much better now.

P.S. lenaen: that was the most accurate sum up I have heard in a long time.

I think that you are right about light9's interest. It does seem higher in Colorado, but I think that might have something do with her never doing anything in Utah. It is very hard for her to attract attention when she is locked in her room all day.

...I think if I was in Utah, I'd make every effort to avoid being outside. It'd be like if zombies attack: stock up, fill the bathtub with water, and destroy the stairs.

Oh, don't get me wrong...I completly understand the hiding the room thing. I would do it myself if I didn't have a horrible case of inherited wanderlust, I just can't sit inside the same room that long.

One thing that isn't clear to me is how you feel about this guy. We know he likes you (of course ;) ) but where are you in all this? Were you dissapointed that it turned into a threesome date instead of just two? Did it not matter much? Were you jealous on the date? I don't think it's out of line to clarify that a date means just you two, in the future...but also I don't think it's out of line to go with the flow if it really didn't matter. But only if it REALLY DIDN'T MATTER, not if you're trying to not make it matter to avoid feeling, you know?

Your roomates, while being sweet and protective, are being a little overbearing. I have every confidence you are a big girl and can take care of this yourself.

I can't wait to hear about your next date with this guy. What craziness will ensue?!?!

Tiff
