Syfy (boy that is annoying!)

Is anyone else watching Warehouse 13?

I'm not loving it, but i have a weird soft spot for the actor who plays Artie, so I'll keep watching it for now.  And I love the idea - although it does feel like an updated version of the Friday the 13th tv show.

Ian was making snide comments this morning about SyFy. That such a lame-ass marketing decision. Changing their name hasn't improved programming.

We are watching it. We enjoyed it and think it might have potential to grow into something good. It's not Eureka, but it's still enjoyable.

As for Syfy, I was a bit annoyed when I first heard about it, but their reasons for doing it are sound.

I'm curious as to how it is sound reasoning. (I'm not trying to pick a fight, you are just the first person I've heard make the comment so I want to pick your brain.)

It just makes sense for a corporation to have a name they can actually own. They couldn't own Sci Fi because it's a generic term.

They explain their reasons in the FAQs: http://www.syfy.com/faq/

Until I read this, I thought the name change was just a stupid marketing ploy, but it looks like there are valid reasons behind it, so now I don't feel so annoyed by it. :)

Ok, I can see the point they made about a text search for a show or movie they made and how "syfy" will help people zero in on what they are looking for more easily.

The article I had read when they first announced the up coming change mostly talked about the sort of people that watched their channel and how they thought that would change if they changed their name. That never made sense to me and their description of the average view was a little insulting to someone that is the exact opposite.

I've been recording it, but I haven't actually watched it yet. I need to though so I can cancel the timer if I don't like it.
