I still want to cry at the idea of Gene cutting Sam out of the team, and I really hope that Ray, Chris, and Annie will be able to turn Gene around...

The parallels between Litton's situation and Gene's, and the way that you describe Gene's behavior, really made Gene seem so closed off and tense, it was almost painful - can't wait to read more!
