Awww Gene's a sweetie, really.

Hope poor Sam doesn't have to have his psych evaluation whilst withdrawing :o

That would be a very skewed eval then, wouldn't it? ;)

The interaction between Gene and Sam is wonderful and how you have Chris find out about the attempt was beautifully done. I can just hear the anguish in his voice when asking Annie at the end.

I definitely need to do a read-thru once this is complete!

Great job!

Thanks! I've done a few read-thrus to remind myself what I've done, and I find it quite depressing, so be warned. A good bit fluff on the side might be required.

Chris' realisation at the hospital was extremely well done - understated and this made it even more realistic.

Wonderful as always.

Thank you! I had a hard time finding the right balance for Chris' scene, so I'm very glad you liked it.

Great chapter - I love the interaction between Sam and Gene, and the way that Gene's emotions are so perfectly described, but his actions are so understated - it fits in perfectly with the character. Also, the bit with him storming back into the hospital asking for the court order was brilliant.

Chris' final confrontation with Annie was wonderful, as well; I could almost here all of his fears and doubts about the case, and all of his anger and frustration at being left out of the loop again, culminating in that one sentence. Brilliant.

Thank you! I think Gene is a such a great character, probably just as complex as Sam, and wish I'd created him. (Guess I'll just have to settle for hijacking him for fic.)

Oh, there's enough angst to go around for everyone, isn't there!
