Well, slap me in a spacesuit and call me Buzz...

Because I just found these pics on a French site for Life on Mars. And I'm all O.O ...because I've never seen these before.

Presumably they were taken by the BBC -- but for what purpose, exactly? As part of a wrap-up shoot? Because -- look how long Liz White's hair is! And, and, spacesuits!!! WTF? It's like someone put LOM-UK and LOM-USA in a ( Read more... )

That is adorable in so many ways I can't even.
(Typing on my dad's lame split keyboard that doesn't work properly. Argh.)

And the expressions! Phil is Mister Impassive, and John is all "This is all very well but can we please get this bloody over with?" weary-face, and Liz -- she looks like she's having the time of her life in her silver outfit <333

YES, the expressions! John really does have that "what the hell are we doing here" look on his face. It's so super cute, and I can't help but wonder what the timing was relative to the end of LoM. Liz is ADORABLE. Annie love!

I have no idea *why* this shoot was done, I just know that I loves it to pieces :D

The shoe thing might just be down to getting their relative heights where the photographer wanted them... I've had this poor-quality version of what I assume is the final version to come out of the shoot on my hard drive for a while and clearly the feet were never meant to be seen at all...

Thank you for linking to the final pic -- even if it's lower-res -- because it's AWESOME!! Although I do love Liz's cheeky grin in the second warm-up pic, too <333

(But really? They couldn't have let Liz keep her socks on? OTOH... maybe she's a sock-free kind of gal :-)

Thank you!!! *hugs wyvern gratefully* At last the mystery is solved!

(Although I'd still love to know why they went for the astronaut motif. Probably they were just riffing on the 'Mars' thing. Oh well!)

(And his shoes are sooo much bigger than John's, too. It's like they're trying to tell us something.. ;-)

Personally, I'd think they were taken to poke fun at the incredibly LAME ending of the American Life On Mars? Sam wakes up and the whole thing- including him being a cop in 2008- was meant to keep his mind busy during hibernation on a spaceship going to Mars. Admittedly, they got cancelled and had to wrap it up quick, but the spacesuits, the British flag?

wyvernwolf points out (above) that this is from an issue of The Observer that predates the *beginning* of the U.S. series by a year and a half, so it's probably just a coincidence.

I'm thinking, now, that they were just riffing on the 'Mars' idea and having a bit of fun with it.

And I do love how very happy Liz White looks <333

I have a hard copy of this and it is utterly gorgeous - although poor John looks SO uncomfortable!! (Perhaps I'm just transferring how I would feel in that situation, but from what I *think* I know of him, I doubt it)

As for the "happy coincidence" - "It's said there is no such thing as coincidence..." LOL. Either way, you have to chuckle...
