LoM/A2A plot may have a scientific basis

RadioLab is an hour-long NPR show that discusses a different scientific phenomenon or question each episode.  I was listening to an episode this morning on the idea of the self -- how do we recognize ourselves in the mirror, where in the brain does our sense of ourselves as individual entities lie, etc.  One of the stories they went into was about ( Read more... )

Oh, Radio Lab ♥ I love that show so much. Always interesting. Plus, I've used it to bluff my way through so many conversations I don't understand.

That's such a fascinating episode. Really lends support to the all in his head theory if you wanted it to. And I sort of find it comforting that the brain keeps itself busy.

Of course, this does make the ending of the show a hell of a lot darker...

I know; that was kind of the other part of my freaking out. And I had issues with the ending before. I mean, I know that the writers had sort of painted themselves into a corner because we had spent the whole show in 1973 and therefore the viewers cared about 1973 more than 2006, but given that the premise of the show meant that they were always going to end on a note of ambiguity...I don't know.
