Some say she's just a cracked-out fan girl. Some say she's Sam and Gene's worst nightmare. All we know is she posts her fic as mikes_grrl, and I re-read several of her stories and series over and over:

The Undercover Series (this is her tag for the whole series)
Rating/Notes/Warnings: NC-17 for sex and violence
Why I recommend this fic series: Realistic view of what early-70s gay coppers would deal with trying to keep both their jobs and their sanity

The Looping Series (link is her tag for the whole series)
Rating/Notes/Warnings: NC-17 Sex, violence, torture, rape
Why I recommend this fic series: As AU as you can get, but still in-character. Twisted and tangled timelines, multiple copies of characters, and an evil!Sam that makes The Master look like a newborn kitten. KB doesn't get why folks like it.

The Uppercut Series (Link goes to last story; everything's hooked together there)

That Old Zen Paradox by halotolerant
Rating/Notes/Warnings: Brown cortina
Why I recommend this fic: Easily one of my favourite LoM fics of all time, it really delves into Gene's past, and state of mind concerning his relationship with Sam...and the sex is just beautifully written!

A Strange Mistake to Make by lozenger8
Rating/Notes/Warnings: Brown Cortina, rimming
Why I recommend this fic: Another Gene-centric fic that focuses on his reservations about sleeping with Sam. You can probably tell I like these fics, because of their plausibility - sometimes I have trouble with fics that seemingly ignore the homophobic side of the canonical Gene in favour of shameless lust. Saying that, there are some fantastic fics of the latter type out there...

Ciphers, and Being careful by darkhorsery
Rating/Notes/Warnings: Brown Cortina
Why I recommend this fic: I just love the plot of this fic, writing a coded diary is so Sam - and stealing it is so Gene! Great mixture of tension, humour (quite a lot of 'lol' moments!) and hotness that has me reading it over and over

Five Times Words Fail Gene Hunt by nepthys_uk
Rating/Notes/Warnings: Brown Cortina
Why I recommend this fic: There's so much that I love about this story. In a nutshell it's about Gene learning to accept his feelings for Sam and letting him into his heart. For me, the author has perfectly captured the Gene/Sam dynamic. The second last paragraph of Part 2 beautifully sums up their relationship.

The End of December by severinne
Rating/Notes/Warnings: White Cortina
Why I recommend this fic: Because it's a lovely Sam/Gene Christmas fic that will give you a case of the warm fuzzies.

Five First Times For Gene Hunt by nepthys_uk
Rating/Notes/Warnings: Blue Cortina
Why I recommend this fic: Because it left me with the lasting impression of Gene and Sam embracing on a balcony on a Greek island while watching a violent thunderstorm approaching. There's more to it than that though and it's all good.

Classico by bistokids

Why I recommend this fic: In 1973 Sam rediscovers his love of good wine and Gene eventually comes to share it with him.
