I didn't even realize that could be done but wow, did you ever do it. That was heartbreaking and powerful. From the little we see of Cecil in Meat, I think you got him bang on. I loved that. Thank you.

And now on a purely silly notion, didn't you even want to take a crack at Cecil's last name? If anyone could figure out what is so embarrassing about it, it's you.

I did do a little watching of certain scenes to make sure I got Cecil down right. It was quite a chore.

I actually had been thinking of a last name for Cecil, based on a thought that "Cecil" wasn't even his real first name, but I couldn't seem to make it fit in the story. Hmm...maybe it was "Blair."

God, that was so sad. Gene loves his Sammy so much, he will risk communicable diseases for him. (And may I say, I like how you killed Sam with cancer, the miracle disease. It's better then how they "killed" him in the series.)

And let me just say: I want to curl around Cecil and never let him go. (And he can be my rent-boy. MINE!)

I had been thinking of using the canon death for Sam but the thought of Sam with cancer, slowly wasting away in front of Gene's eyes after they had years together, was much more angsty and would have more of a tragic impact on Gene. And I'm probably evil.

(I'm currently keeping Cecil locked in my closet. But I am willing to rent him out.)

Yeah...that's what makes death-by-disease so god awful. The ones you love are forced to watch you die. When you crash into a canal, though, it's all "wham, bam, see ya up river". The only good that sort of death can bring is the possiblity of Sam's phoenix-like ressurrection (I have trumpets at the ready if that happens).

(How much for a night of (potential) strangulation-causing clinging?)

I started tearing up when Gene asked why Sam had to die...and poor Cecil, not knowing how to respond...this fic is well-done, but I hate the thought of Gene being alone in the future without Sam. Aside, from that, thanks for introducing me to Cecil, and if I have a chance, I'll check the movie out.

Thank you very much! Cecil is a fun character, though he's missing from the nearly the whole middle of the movie. (Which really isn't very good, but JS is great fun to watch.)
