Oh man, Sam is beating himself up so bad, which he does extraordinarily well. Calling himself all those names in the crossword puzzle, yelling to Gene across the pier when he didn't even know it was Gene, and that must have been heartbreaking for Gene (look at me rambling on like this is real! That is the mark of a damn fine fic I tell you).
That girl is creepy as creepy gets. Sam is broken, and Gene is beside himself. Oh dear I love this.
Short term memory loss must be contagious because I forgot to comment on part 2.
I have learned by now never to trust your first estimate on how many chapters a story will run but that's okay, it just means more beautiful Sam!Angst. Poor confused Sammy, I love how Gene cares for him.
Since you've hooked me even with your ever expanding word count, I suppose I'll just have to see it through to the end. Poor me. ;)
If confused!Sammy wasn't so much fun to play with, this story really would have ended when I said it would. He's just so cute when he's emo, though. Thank you!
Such a harrowing chapter, really quite tense and not easy on either of them. It's painful enough seeing how much Sam hates himself for his seeming betrayal, but Gene's moment of being equally pissed off at Sam for that very reason is just heartbreaking, even more so once Gene realizes what Sam's state of mind actually is.
Also loving the plot brewing underneath all the lovely angst, can't wait for the conclusion (and if part 4 ends up not being the conclusion, I'm sure as hell not gonna complain).
