Oh. Just...oh. A touching, sad symmetry, but hopeful too.

Sometimes it's easy to forget the lives Sam changed when he chose 1973. This is a beautiful, melancholy reminder. Thank you. <3

Thanks! I'm glad you found this hopeful as well as sad as that's what I was aiming for. I shouldn't hang around cemeteries so much, should I?!

What a beautiful and sad way to bridge 1973 and 2007. Your writing is lovely in this. So much emotion and pain contained into so few words.

I love small side stories that fill in more of the peripheral lives Sam would have touched in both times and this is a wonderful example.

Thank you!

*nod* there are so many details, often very small, which can be so very tempting to explore fic-wise.
So glad you enjoyed this particular foray!

I really like fic that explores the 2007 that Sam left behind and the impact, and this is quite probably one of the best and most original ones I've seen.

I really like the repeat of the first line as the last line too. Trying to reconcile it and then being grateful for the effort made. *loves* Just lovely. Thank you!

Gosh! Thank you for such lovely feedback!
I rewatched 1.04 recently and it really hit me about Joni's mum - what happened to her after Joni was murdered? With Warren taken care of I reckoned there was no need for her to leave Manchester and that she'd probably want to be near her husband and Joni's graves, and then it all sort of fell into place about her meeting Ruth.
I'm so glad this made such a positive impact on you!
