His eyes met mine; no longer misunderstood
‘I’m flying... Home.’
He smiled and slipped gently away.

*sniffles*

It's bad to make a grown woman cry!

That was beautifully written and very poignant.

Oh thank you!
I tried to make him a bit like Sam. Y'know, like father like son... just a little bit rusting away at sanity.

Hi, I need to read this a few more times before I can comment coherently, but I wanted to point out something that was a major WTF moment for me:

a small child, beneath lantana,

I thought this was something a bit mystic at first, because I've never even seen the word "lantana" before. Anyway, I've now wiki'd it and discovered it's a plant in America and Australia (I'm assuming you're in Oz, from your posting time). However, from the fact that I've never come across the word before, I'm guessing it's a plant we don't have in England, or at least not by that name.

I hope you don't mind the Britpick; I'll come back later and comment properly.

Oh noo *headpalm* >.< oh dear me!
Bloody hell! Thanks for pointing that out! It is a bit of a weed here, and I sort of assumed it came from Europe for some strange reason... Yes I'm an Aussie. A bloody scatter-brained Aussie at that. xD

Perhaps it was that I don’t want to listen to him, to read him, to know and to share a burden of his insanity. The sheer madness lies in his soul; beneath the eyes, so dark and twisted.

When I read that I shivered. It put a really creepy image in my head.

Good work!

=D Thanks! I'm glad that all these people are quoting so many different parts of the story: it's like I reach people xD
