And we're walking.)
Jack only had one man on the ground, or rather, one man under ground. It was his OIC of security-- the one who was going to turn the reins of police over to the first sheriff, come summer. The general was planning on a 'promotion ceremony', that moment where good work is rewarded and encouragements and exhortations for those not being 'recognized' to work harder.
Now, as much as this was a test of the Captains, yes, it was also a test of Ami and her skills, and how she used it as part of her 'team'. All around was rock, except for the goa'uld 'ruins', which was actually a goa'uld outpost, made up (but not completely) of that same stuff that they build their spaceships from. After all, why build if you can use what's already available? And there wasn't a ready supply of slaves, so...
Regardless... whatever Ami got would be gained through rock, soil and alien metals-- most of which Jack couldn't name, even if he was asked. Now that was a test.
The rock throwing was a good idea, honestly. Sticking close, getting the lay of the land, exploding ordinance to see the distances of the 'perimeter' area...
His lips pressed tightly and he continued on, not slowing, and pressed fingers on Ami's back to get her moving.. but it was short-lived as the archaeologist moved once more. Jack glanced at Daniel, gave a brief shake of his head. Ami was 'on her own' with the Captains. There was that possibility that the pair would dismiss the woman out of hand, even knowing, and there was that possibility that they'd take her to heart and plan how to procede with the new intel.
