^My dad sent a check for $40 for the girls Christmas presents and a letter saying that the family wasn't getting together and that it wasn't a good time for them. And maybe some other time. It also said to get them something and they didn't know what to get them. Really weird note. It seems like we are just moving down the pit of complete

My grandparents give my kids money for their birthdays and holidays. It's much easier for them to do that and let the kids go shopping for themselves, as their tastes change so often at this stage.

Even when I was growing up, my grandparents always took us shopping and gave us a spending limit. They knew we were going to get something we liked and they could also be a part of it and spending time with us.

Yah, I can see that it's weird......but it's you and him that aren't talking. He probably doesn't have any beef with your kids and still wants them to know he loves them. :D Or....that he wants to buy their love.

Who knows... He isn't much of a grandfather. He has young kids of his own..

The separation is as you say--prolly a good thing since he is a ticking time bomb. I know it makes you uneasy to have the divide, but in a sense it does afford you more peace. You could always write him a letter and let him know that you are sad about the separation, and that you'd like to be closer. However, he has to speak nice to you or whatever it is that he is doing that is causing the division. Keep praying about it--he may decide he misses you and the kids and will change his ways to being more friendly, though with my mom it took a couple of years to get to that point.
