Madonna's old face is rolling in its grave/in the trashcan behind her surgeon's office

I've listened to portions of all the Madonna songs that will be featured on Glee as covered by the Glee cast.  Honestly, I wanted to find a gif that would appropriately describe my reaction to hearing those covers, but alas, gifsoup had no search result for "hot sauce enema."  Yeah.  It's that shockingly bad, and that's really saying something, ( Read more... )

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Lea Michele, but honestly, everyone else just seemed to botch up their songs far more. When I first heard that Madonna had granted the show access to her catalog, at the time, I'd wondered if she'd fallen down and hit her head on something hard. However, now that I've heard clips of each song, I think that it was a pretty smart move; the one thing that becomes undeniably apparent after listening to the songs is that nobody can do those songs like Madonna. It just reinforced for me all those reasons why she's been able to succeed for so long.

Now... maybe I'll feel a little differently once I have context on the show and hear the entire song, but... I doubt it; that's how awful those short clips were.

I don't know who suggested Madonna lending her songs, but she's definitely got a shrewd team who know how to get her the maximum amount of publicity possible. LOL, maybe Lourdes told her to do it. :D

As far as Lady Gaga -- I love her, but I don't think there's any real comparison to be made between Gaga and Madonna. On the one hand, Lady Gaga has a greater ability to craft music. But whether or not that well of talent can keep her going for as many years as Madonna remains to be seen. Logically, the odds are that she won't sustain such a career, as very few artists have ever had the kind of career Madonna has had and continues to have. Even if Gaga does have that legacy in her future, it'll never change what Madonna has done. :)

I can't help but be excited, even if it's going to be bad. >_>`
