Title: Fate has a strange way of bringing ‘U’ and ‘I’ together.
Author: liddonemo
Pairing: Callie/Arizona
Rating: PG 13 though rating may be changed for later chapters
Summary: Arizona Robbins just got out of a relationship and decides to leave Mass Gen and decides to take the offer of Seattle Grace Hospital. Callie Torres just got out of a confusing relationship and decides to take a break from dating. Was the meeting at the bar coincidence or fate? (I suck at summaries… but I tried)
Disclaimer: I do not own anything pertaining Grey’s Anatomy, or anything else I may refer to. I don’t even own the lovely Arizona (no matter how much I wish I did) and this is purely for fun, so no. I’m not getting any profit for this.
A/N: Awesome reviews for the last chapter. Made me happy to know that bringing in Jenna and Erica shocked people and that you guys don’t totally hate me. A big thanks to everyone who’s been reading & especially the people who have been reviewing. Tells me that I’m doing something good, lol. Enjoy!
(Arizona POV)
The moment I looked the way that Calliope was staring, I immediately regretted it. There stood Jenna and Erica, my ex-fiancé and ex-best friend. It was as if the room started spinning, and everything started to go in slow motion. “Jenna?” I spoke out, my face had shock written all over it. “Erica?” I heard from the other side of me, for once since seeing them again realizing that I was there with Calliope and we just shared the most amazing kiss I’ve ever had.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, and at first I started panicking. I started feeling a bit claustrophobic and felt like everything was spinning again. Things started to pick up their pace and go faster. I felt like I was falling, until a pair of strong yet gentle arms wrapped their way around me. I leaned into the embrace, feeling things starting to slow down once again.
“Arizona, you ok?” Calliope asked me, worried about me. I couldn’t answer that, I wasn’t ok. I was okay, but now, since I’ve seen them, I’ve been the opposite of ok. “Get me out of here,” I replied shortly, starting to panic again. Calliope paused for a second, and then I became even more panicked. “Get me out of here, Get me out of here! Please! Get me out, please…Please”
I turned around to hide myself from anyone but Calliope, I buried my head into her and I felt that we were moving. As we were moving I heard some familiar voices. “Cal, what’s wrong with her?” it had to be Erica. Erica was the only person who knew Calliope out of her and Jenna. “You don’t get to call me that anymore. You lost that right when you left me without so much as a goodbye.” Calliope snapped.
I looked up for a second, and I saw that Erica had been taken aback for a second. She was staring at Calliope until she saw that I looked up, her features visibly softened. “Arizona…” she said, reaching out a hand to touch me. I shook my head and buried it back into Calliope’s chest, I felt safe there. “Make her go away…” I whispered so only Callie heard.
Calliope was about to speak, before there was another voice, a man’s voice, who spoke before her. “Hahn,” he said, and I immediately recognized it as Mark’s voice. “Sloan.” She replied shortly. “I trust you’re not making any trouble.” He said, a threat underlining his voice. I looked up at this exchange, I had never seen Mark serious, but then I realized something. Calliope was his best friend, she hurt Calliope, Mark was there to help her through the hurt.
“Well I-“Erica started, before she was interrupted by Cristina Yang. “Dr. Hahn” she said, annoyance laced in her words. Erica looked surprised by Cristina’s appearance. “Yang.” She said, turning her attention back to Mark. “Well, as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted,” she shot a glare at Cristina who shot a glare right back.
“I just dropped by here to have a drink or two, never expected to run into Callie. Or anyone else for that matter” Erica said, her attention changing to me at the end of her explanation. I pulled Calliope closer to me and she put a protective arm in front of me. “Well then, forget you ever saw us” I heard Callie say, anger in her voice as she started to pull me away towards the door.
“Zona, how are you?” I heard Jenna say, for the first time since she’s been here. I tensed up in Callie’s arms. I couldn’t lie and say I didn’t miss Jenna, or her voice. I think Callie felt me tense up, because her hold on me tightened a little. “Are you ok?” she whispered in my ear. I just shook my head.
I looked up to face Jenna, my expression cold. “You lost the right to ask me anything when you slept with her.” Was all that came from my mouth. I heard a few gasp, as things started to click in people’s head. Jenna looked at me, with hurt spread across her face. “Baby, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to, you know I’d never want anything to make our relationship end. We were engaged.”
I flinched at the word baby, and Calliope’s arms tensed around me. Everyone looked like they were waiting for a fight to happen. By now, Teddy, Owen, Meredith, Christina and Mark were all surrounding them. The Mercy Wester’s were looking as if they weren’t sure what to do, for they hadn’t known either of them all that well.
“I suggest you go now.” Calliope said, my head snapped up to her. Her voice was cold and harsh, and I wasn’t sure if it was to Erica or if it was to Jenna. “You don’t have any say in whether or not I can leave or not.” Jenna said to Callie, in an equally as cold and harsh voice. This time I spoke up. “Yes she does, because she’s my girlfriend” I said, hoping that Calliope would play along.
A few more collective gasp came from the group, but Cristina, Mark, Calliope and I just kept our faces indifferent. Erica and Jenna looked drew back a little. “Yeah, so like I said, I suggest you go now… Better yet, I think we’ll go.” Calliope said, her voice not changing. She dragged me out of the club, with Cristina and Mark trailing not too far behind.
We walked in silence for a few, before Mark spoke up. “Hey Cal, you okay?” he asked, truly worried about his best friend. “Yeah, I’m… I’m fine” Calliope looked at me and tilted her head towards me. “Are you ok Arizona? I know they were the last people you wanted to see.” I looked at Callie with a small smile on her face. “I’ve been better, but things could have been worse if you weren’t here.”
This caused Calliope to blush a little, and even in the darkness of the night I could see her blush. I smiled a little, she smiled back at me. For the first time that night, Cristina spoke up. “So does anyone want to explain to me what the hell just happened back there?” Callie shot her a look that read ‘shut the hell up’ and she just shrugged off the look.
Mark looked towards me and Calliope. “Yeah, I sort of want to know too… I got some of it, but I don’t think I have the full story.” Callie looked towards me with an apologetic look on her face, and I smiled at her with a nod. “It’s ok. If you trust them, you can tell them… They did help us out… Just, don’t go too much into detail.” I said softly. Calliope looked at me, unsure at first and then nodded.
“Well, you know of course about Erica.” Looks of disgust that passed over their faces confirmed that they in fact did know about Erica, and I grinned to myself. “Well, when Erica left here… She went to work at Mass Gen, how I know about that is because the lovely Arizona here,” she said as she pointed towards me, “Became best friends with Hahn when she came. I know, I couldn’t believe it either.”
This made me giggle slightly, and Calliope smiled towards me, glad that she could make me smile a little. “Well, the other girl was Jenna, she’s Arizona’s fiancé… Or at least she was.” I pressed my lips into a tight line, and Callie quickly skimmed over that part. “Long story short, she caught Erica and Jenna in bed together… and voila, here she is.”
I studied the look on their faces, as the both seem to be lost in thought. Cristina spoke first. “Rollergirl and Wicked Witch were best friends huh?” I raised my eyebrow at Cristina and she shrugged. “Wicked Witch, Erica Hahn… come on,” I had a look of confusion on my face, and Callie rolled her eyes. “Don’t mind Cristina.” She said.
Arizona didn’t know where they had been walking, but when they finally stopped she looked up to see an apartment building. “Where are we?” I asked Calliope. She immediately looked a little nervous. “Uhm, well you uh, seemed a little upset about what happened at the club, and um since me, Cristina and Mark live in the same apartment building and it wasn’t that far away from the club, we decided to walk here and uh, you could stay here if you like but you don’t have to do that it’s just an offer, so you know you won’t be a-“I put a finger on Calliope’s lips and smiled.
“You ramble when you’re nervous and I thought I was the rambler.” Callie blushed again, and Cristina and Mark made their way into the building to give Callie and I our moment of privacy, which I was grateful for. “And for the record, I would like to stay here tonight… I mean, if that’s not too long, but yeah. Definitely.”
Callie’s smile grew and I looked at her with a smile of my own. “Really?” I nodded and smiled bigger. “Really… because we still do need to talk,” I said. Callie’s face dropped, she didn’t want to talk. I put a finger under her chin and lifted her head up. “Don’t worry. The talk is good.” Callie’s face lit up a little, but she was still a little nervous.
“So, are you going to show me to your apartment?” I teased. She seemed to snap back to reality and smiled, walking into the building, holding my hand while doing so. My heart raced as I felt her hand in mind. As we got to the door of her apartment, before Calliope could even get her key out, the door opened. “I thought she’d say yes.” Cristina said with a roll of her eyes. She looked towards Callie. “I’ll be at Mer’s or Owen’s. So you and blondie here can ‘talk’”
Callie flashed her a grateful smile, and Cristina rolled her eyes again, leaving the apartment as we walked in. “She’s a good friend” I observed. Callie looked at me and nodded. “Yep, and even if she won’t admit it to anyone, I’m one of her best friends.” I nodded, I could see that. Cristina was protective over Callie, though she would never admit to being protective over her.
“So do you want anything to eat or drink? We have an unlimited amount of tequila, and I make a mean Chicken Piccata.” I smiled at her and nodded. “Can I get water, and I’d love to try the Chicken Piccata” Callie smiled at me, her smile reaching her eyes and god was she gorgeous. She walked over to the island to watch Callie cook, she looked so in her element.
“So we have to talk.” Callie said, after they finished eating. Her cooking was amazing, and if I didn’t already think she was so awesome, this would sure have made her believe that she was. I nodded and looked at Callie. “Yep we have to talk. But can we talk tomorrow? We’ve done a lot of talking today… And really, I just want to hang out with you.”
I looked at her, hopeful that she would say yes. Callie smiled and nodded. “Of course, how about we watch a movie or something? You can pick out of the collection, fair warning, most of them are horror movies” I pouted, I wasn’t a big fan of horror movies. “Do you have any Disney movies or something?” I asked, hopeful.
Callie looked at me and then laughed. “Whattt? Its um… research for patients, I have to know about movies. And the tiny humans tend to like Disney movies” I pouted and crossed my arms. She grinned and made her way over to me. “I just think it’s cute, that’s all” She said as she kissed the top of my head.
I smiled again, and went over to the couch. “Okay then, surprise me with a movie.” I said as I snuggled in to get comfortable. Callie snickered and put in a movie, then moved over to the couch and made her way by me, leaning me against her body. I didn’t even know what movie was playing, and I didn’t care. I was too busy trying not to kiss her.
I snuggled into her, and she wrapped her arms around my waist. I stared at the TV, trying to tell what movie was playing with no luck. I felt her breath on my neck as she watched the movie, and my mind went to bad places. I leaned my head on her and then I slowly started to fall asleep, thoughts of the day floating away, and Calliope filling my dreams.
A/N 2: So most people know that I didn’t know what to do after the last chapter, but I actually really like how this one came out. Next chapter Callie and Arizona have their talk. & if you think that Erica and Jenna are gone, you are sadly mistaken. :] Look for the next update in 1-3 days. Not really sure when, but until then read & review. :D Thanks!
