Having kids is your choice. If you don't want to have kids, then don't. It sounds like you're living a really rich, fulfilling life without them, so continue to live that rich, fulfilling life and don't worry about it. ^^

I don't think I'm ever having kids either, 'cause I feel like I'd utterly fail at being a mother. :/

:D thanks for the support.

Sometimes I feel like I wouldn't be a good mom either :( I didn't have decent role models growing up.

TOTALLY agree. I have been actually hoping Darren's sister will decide to have kids soon, so I can play with one and dress it up.

People ask Derek and I that on occasion. We're not married yet but people assume we are going to get married so then the next uncertainty to ask about is "Are you guys going to have kids?" I say no, never want kids, never wanted kids, Derek feels the same way, etc. and the response I consistently get is "Oh, you'll feel differently once your settled and financially stable/thirty years old/older/more mature/etc."

Its like, is it really such a strange thought that I WOULDN'T want children? I love Derek's niece and nephew to bits and pieces but I don't want to be anyone's mother. Being a mother is something you'll ALWAYS be, no matter what. You can't take that decision back. Its not like buying a house or a car or going to one college vs. the other. I feel like people take the decision to be a parent so lightly that when someone says "No, I've thought about it and I don't want a child." its like a shock to their system or something.
