President Bush wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year, but he's very busy chasing Barney around the ranch in Texas and ignoring the plight of tsunami victims. So his friends at Cagle.com sent some New Year's wishes in his honor.
Oh dear. That's just plain hilarious. And I need to make another LiberalRage icon, ohyes. In the meantime, I'll stick with the FBI-suspected-communist-Chaplin icon.
Heheheheh. I've met so many people that think this is the greatest movie of all time, which is totally cool. It just rubs me the wrong way. But I still love everything else Kevin Smith has done, even Mallrats.
Hee, that last cartoon is especially creepy/amusing, because they've made both old Bushes look like the Grinch.
I actually like Chasing Amy alright. I admit the "I'm a lesbian, whoops, I'm not!" thing did bug me... and I couldn't for the life of me see why she'd be swayed by him... but then, knowing the sexuality politics of a movie would piss my mother off no end is kind of a mark in the plus column for me.
Plus, it's one of the few movies I've seen that deals with the joiner issues in lesbian culture. It's not enough to love women - in some circles, you have to identify as lesbian, and base large segments of your identity around that. Her female friends withdrew when she revealed she was in love with a man... just as straight friends can when a friend comes out to them. But in this case it wasn't discomfort with or ignorance about or revulsion at a straight "lifestyle" - it was all about her breaking the rules, breaking the code. Because of her chosen label, loving a man was transgressive, and was even taken as a betrayal

When there's no more room in Hell, the Republicans shall walk the earth.
Didn't they see Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back? Where we learn once & for all that Banky is the gayest gay that ever gayed?
I certainly didn't, but given the hints dropped in Chasing Amy, I can't say I'm surprised.
