Breaking: Kucinich is introducing articles of impeachment against Bush.

Jun 09, 2008 22:38

35 of them, to be exact.

He's on C-Span right now. He just covered signing statements, and is now on to directing others to break the law; he's listing all the congressional subpoenas Bush administration officials have ignored.

Good. By rights, he should have been impeached and removed from office years ago.

I agree, it should have happened years ago, but it's necessary that it's happening at all. It's a wonder/joy that it's happening at all. :)

It is. I admit I don't have terribly high expectations, but at least it's being said. At least it's on the record.

For posterity. For history. So Asshat can't claim he was St George forever and ever.

Exactly.

And I suspect the corporate media will cover this as little as they can get away with, and ignore the FACTUAL basis of these articles, precisely because they are factual.

Dennis Kucinich is the ballsiest motherfucker to ever step foot in Congress. I'm still proud to have voted for him in 2004 and 2008 during the primaries. This pretty much guaranteed he'll be getting my vote in 2012.

I dunno... Barbara Lee had some cojones, too.

But Kucinich does seem to live pretty fearlessly. Go him.

We will call Barbara Lee the ovariest.

Works for me. :) I think I might vote for Barbara Lee for damn near any office she wanted.

I want to get really excited about that, but the prospect of having an actual President Dick Cheney - you know, formally - sort of puts a damper on it.

Yeah... which is why he introduced articles of impeachment against Cheney [pdf] last year... but I suppose he now thinks, with that having gone nowhere, it's time to speak to history, if no one else.

And he mentioned Cheney in reading his articles tonight, so who knows, maybe he thinks an actual trial in Congress would take them both down?

It's about time someone in congress stood up and did something about this renegade, law-breaking administration.

You have to impeach the president, and I'll take 10 minutes of Cheney being sworn in only to be impeached himself.

Holy crap! Does that mean Nancy Pelosi might accidentally be the first female President of the United States, if only for a few months?

How cool would it be to see her handing power over to Obama in January!!!!

Sorry - I get ahead of myself. First impeach. Then hold a criminal trial... impeachment does not always lead to presidents stepping down. How can we force it?

Well, here's contact info for the House Judiciary Committee. Particularly if one is your rep, you could call?
