Breaking: Kucinich is introducing articles of impeachment against Bush.

Jun 09, 2008 22:38

35 of them, to be exact.

He's on C-Span right now. He just covered signing statements, and is now on to directing others to break the law; he's listing all the congressional subpoenas Bush administration officials have ignored.

Good. By rights, he should have been impeached and removed from office years ago.

(Thanks to txvoodoo for the heads-up.)

Liveblogging this, part one and part two.

He's finishing each article by pointing out that in his actions, Bush broke his oath to uphold the Constitution, and "manifestly injur[ed]" the American people, and therefore is guilty of an impeachable offense meriting removal from office.

ETA (Tues.): The full list of articles of impeachment are here [pdf].

ETA2: ilyena_sylph alerts us that Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) has signed on as a co-sponsor to Kucinich's resolution:

"A decision by Congress to pursue impeachment is not an option, it is a sworn duty. It is time for Congress to stand up and defend the Constitution against the blatant violations and illegalities of this Administration."

Well said, Congressman Wexler.
