Jesus christ. What's next, trying to make us have the permission of our parents (for unmarried women) or husbands before we get cntraception? Before we have sex at all?

I'm sure it won't pass, but it's a chilling idea.

It is. I'd say he's trying to "shift the frame" towards Handmaid's Taleville, but he's almost certainly not that smart. This raw meat for the misogynist base.

Now I feel kinda bad about posting.

It's ok! Well, it's not ok, but... it's not a law!

It's a statement.
Probably as has happened before, this'll get refused as too extreme. Then they'll introduce something less extreme, and act like they're trying to compromise. *eyeroll*

What less extreme thing can they introduce instead? It'll fizzle out.

Won't go anywhere, and if it does it's unconstitutional beyond all belief. I'd venture to say that even this miserable Supreme Court would find it unconstitutional. God, I'm ashamed to have any relations with that miserable state. Full of rednecks.

I'd like to think so, but Stephens has been coming down on the right recently, and the other four... they'd find some excuse to rule it constitutional.

Even this court has continued to uphold judicial bypass, and not only that, there has to be at a minimum a legitimate state interest... the above commenter is right - there's no legitimate state interest here being articulated, it's patently irrational on its face a la Romer. When the legislative intent for the law is self-contradictory, I have to think even this court will throw it out; usually, rednecks are craftier than this, but, well, they're rednecks, I guess it was asking too much.

I'm really glad I have old men around to tell me how to handle my lady parts the right way. If they weren't around, I'd probably leave my uterus at the mall or something and then where would I be, I ask you?!

Um... not at the mall?
