Dear Virginia:
Okay, y'all, I did my best. I knocked on doors, phone banked, handed out flyers, and blogged about this race for almost a year.

I could totally be placated by the right kind of chocolate ^_~

Lots of elections going down in Ohio too! ^_^ New mayor for Cincinnati, and a couple state-wide issues including creating a special non-partisan election monitoring committee.

I can be completely bought for swiss chocolate truffles. ;)

I'd heard about elections there, but didn't know what the details were. Who looks like the winner in Cincinnati?

It's really a toss-up between the two democratic candidates (For a very conservative city, we generally elect democrats for mayors).

This cartoon pretty much sums up the mayoral election. I voted for Mallory because he's more in favor of public libraries. ^_^ The polls close at 7:30!

I thought Cincinatti leaned Democrat? No wait, I'm thinking of Cleveland or one of those places.

Thanks for the cartoon... I can think of a lot of races where that sums it all up. ;)

At my polling place in Richmond (which is solidly Democrat), I didn't have to wait in line to vote but there was a steady stream of people going in and out, and this was in the middle of the afternoon, not peak voting times. I'm taking it as a good sign. *crosses appendages*

I would take it as a good sign too. My polling place wasn't crowded, but we had a steady stream of people coming in and out. When I got home tonight, there were more people and lots of cars. I'm taking that as a good sign too.

*crosses everything along with you*

The elections have been very much in my mind all day today, especially in Jersey and of course, with you in VA since I know how hard you've been working on this campaign. I trust that the people of VA can see through Kilgore's bullshit and are going to be the new wave of what we're gonna see happen in this country over the next year.

I hope, that is.

Be proud of the work you did, no matter what. You spoke up, you spread the good word, and you didn't just sit around and complain. Did knowing any of that make me feel SUPER after Kerry lost? No, but all of it made me feel better.

And no matter what, we throw their cookies of complacency in their faces and FIGHT ON!!1

::clings:: Thanks for the words of encouragement. And you're right - no matter what happens tonight, I did my best and became part of the democratic process for a little while. I got a lot of the experience either way.

And no matter what, we throw their cookies of complacency in their faces and FIGHT ON!!1

Heeeeee! ::loves::

You need to hurry up and get old enough to vote. ;) Aren't you turning 18 next year? You'll be able to vote for Senator and Congress!

If it makes you feel any better, I still care... I was the very first person in my precinct to vote this morning, and we didn't even have a Governor's or General Court race, it was all city council. Boston Mass, Ward 4 Precinct 9, Bay State represent ;p.
