Dear Virginia:
Okay, y'all, I did my best. I knocked on doors, phone banked, handed out flyers, and blogged about this race for almost a year.
If you still decide to be idiots and vote for the evil guy, I'll accept it, and move on to the next campaign. I mean, I'll still be REALLY PISSED OFF, but I'll accept it. It's out of my hands now. --- Love, Luna
It seems like turnout was pretty light across the entire state... my NBC affiliate is estimating less than 40% of the electorate showed up. Earlier today, WaPo's estimates were even
more pathetic, with 18% of eligible voters voting by 11am. Wow. Am I the only one who cares about the democratic process here? Grrr.
Not sure how it's going in New Jersey - any reports of
leaked exit polls are bullshit - or in
New York City, where Bloomberg is pretty much locked in.
Californians seem on track to bitch slap all of the Governator's ballots. Here's my favorite disgruntled voter story, from
SFGate:
Even the free cookies being handed out by some poll workers didn't sweeten the mood of San Francisco voters, who largely said today that they think the special election was unnecessary and that they planned to vote down Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's ballot measures.
"It's a scam," said Jana Gunter, who voted this morning at Edison Charter Academy at 22nd and Dolores streets. "This was wrong, unnecessary and a waste of money. I needed to vote against Arnold."
Not even the FREE COOKIES placated voters! Even I might like the Governator more if he gave me chocolate chips. ;)
But back to my state. Polls officially close here in 12 minutes, and results should be getting posted at the
State Board of Elections site soon.
As
iharthdarth would say, "BREATHE". :)
