Of course, to ib, sleep is for the weak. lol. But sleep is a good thing. I feel more motivated to write today. And it's nice to start with a movie quote, too!

For anime vs manga for me its manga all the way, but I started out as a comic book fan when I was in middle school. So to me manga was an excellent extension of that hobby. Despite seeing anime first I still gravitate to the manga and now I almost exclusively read manga and watch little to no anime.

On the scanlation thing, it is a bit odd. I or a member of my team buys the books we scanlate so the mangaka's are getting money and there really isn't another way to read it and purchasing it is rather difficult to get it in the usa if you don't live in one of the metropolitian areas that has japanese language bookstores (which I dont *cries*). That being said, I have friends who are on scanlation teams who live in countries that ban yaoi/shota/explicit manga, and turn it away at the border so that they can't purchase it no matter what the format and scanlation is the only way to consume. So in some ways we are overcoming government censorship :) in those Asian countries XD

-nods- Scanlation is my trip up as of right this moment, mainly because of the points you just made. However, for music and movies, I'm very much anti-downloading. Some people may think, well, they're rich, they don't need to worry about it, but that's a bull-shit attitude to have. Most musicians and movie stars don't earn that much from initial sales. Their "fortune" comes from the royalties and even then that has to be split. It frustrates me that people don't realize that.

That'd be like McDonald's putting all other fast food joints out of business. It's not economical.

There isn't much I'm afraid to talk about, though I will avoid religion and politics like they're plagues. I'm not about to argue with someone over what they think is right. People tend to forget that opinions are just that: opinions. Otherwise, I'll speak my mind. My dad may not like it but then that's his problem and not mine. ;) LOL One day I may just talk about stem cell research ( ... )
