I'm not going to debunk your entire post, but there are a few points I'd like to address.

Lian Hua: Funny she should call them purists, seeing how she's the one advocating to keep anything non-American out of the series and making disparaging comments about the "stereotypical" Japanese names.

They have called themselves purists for years.

Iscariot: Before I forget, I want to mention one thing the We Want Serena page never bothers to take into account: the people who a). never watched Sailor Moon before and will thus be unaffected by the "change" made to her name and b). the people whose only exposure to Sailor Moon comprised of fansubs and scanlations, and as a result only know the name Usagi.

Because the site represents all who want "Serena." If one does not know about "Serena" one cannot want her.

Lian Hua: Trying to convince... I don't know, let's say some higher powers, that Sailor Moon should be exactly the way you want it to be. Solely based on your nostalgia! No, merely stating a collective, shared opinion on why ( ... )

After all, not every fan of Sailor Moon is an anime fan,

Iscariot: ...um what.

Lian Hua: Hmmm. I'll try to get behind the logic of this.

.....

........

.......

Wait, I can't.

It is logical. An "anime fan" is someone who likes to watch watch anime, generally more than one. There are plenty of people who watched Sailor Moon but did not watch any other anime. There are also people who watched other mainstream anime at the time, but never delved into more anime. Much as a white person can be racist and yet have a person of a different race as a best friend, people can be apathetic toward anime in general or even hate it, but love Sailor Moon.

Can we talk about copyright? Lets talk about copyright ( ... )

Just adding, Iscariot claims to be a big Sailor Moon fan but fails hard to realize SM was dubbed and edited in CANADA. So lian and Iscariot typical mindless America bashing is stupid. It's a shame. I liked them until this.

Not sure what your point is. A lot of editing and dubbing is done in Canadian studios, and even many Hollywood films that are supposed to take place in America are filmed in - surprise!- Canada simply because they give tons of tax breaks for filming.

But it's kind of a moot point because DiC was located in Burbank, California and they created the show for a North American audience, and the show premiered in the United States only a few weeks after it began premiering in Canada. And even Cloverway was located in Long Beach, California.

So I'm not exactly sure what your point is? If you're trying to say the show's 90's dub was made by Canadians for Canadians then... umm no?
