Last weekend we drove down to NY state to spend a couple of days with my parents and sister and her family. We hiked in a state park, saw a waterfall and a lot of neat rock formations, and a lot of wild animals ( Read more... )

If it helps, I'm going back for a second viewing of Man of Steel on Wednesday.

I enjoyed it! Some people I know really hated it, though, which is interesting.

One of my Facebook friendlisters has described it as being something of a "Rorschasch blot" movie. Not sure they're wrong to use that analogy.

Yeah, apparently it can cause memory loss if taken long-term, which is obviously something I'd want to avoid. It can also be habit-forming. But I'm definitely sick of being so anxious I can't sleep or poop (terrible insomnia is the other stress symptom I have, and I usually only get a couple of hours' sleep before an event -- meaning I'm exhausted and have trouble enjoying what's happening).

Thank you! And yes, I think it's a pretty good site. It does seem to have shrunk my images down, but maybe if people go to them individually they can see the full size..? Not sure. I hope so. And I did get along well with and have a nice time with my family, despite the occasional hiccup here and there. I think putting some distance between us makes us fonder of each other.

No worries, the fic is long and a bit heavy to take in :> I hope your class is going well though, even if it is stressful!

Today (Saturday) I travelled to Toronto to see my family again, and was planning to take the calming sedative the night before, but decided I didn't need it because it wasn't a major trip and thus likely wouldn't stress me out much. So I didn't take it, and the same old nonsense happened: couldn't sleep and couldn't poop. Got home and immediately started pooping again. I'm so damned neurotic :P

The album share is nice because people can download the pics. Apparently my family struggled to save the pics individually, which seems weird to me but maybe there's a setting I haven't seen.

i'm finally commenting on this entry, i saw it like a week ago but never did anything about it.
curiously enough, i did not see the previous entry pop up on my f-list at all - thanks lj -.-

sounds like you had fun - and tickless, no less - and your nephew is adorable. i've certainly noticed more little kids around - because a, a lot of my friends get into that age and b, because i think my hormones are trying to get me to think about babies....which is not cool.
My hormones are whacky, but thankfully I know that and can react accordingly.

and hey, tops supermarket!

LJ is so difficult these days, I don't know what to think. Glitches are inevitable, but I can't help but think they don't care.

I think we were tickless -- we didn't find any, at least. I was kind of worried going there because my nephew got a tick on him about a week before, and that part of the US has a major tick problem and a significant problem with Lyme disease. That isn't the worst Lyme-affected area, but it's close to it. Haven't found anything problematic though, so fingers crossed ( ... )

I think you're good. Ticks can only spread lyme disease if they're attached to you for more than 12 hours. A friend and biology student explained to me that the ticks suck blood so fervently that after 12 hours they're in over their head, cannot contain the blood they already got, and it causes a bit of the blood they already sucked, now mixed with their saliva, to flow back into your body. The saliva is the thing that can contain lyme disease, so it's impossible to get the disease before roughly 12 hours ( ... )

If we didn't see a (hypothetical) tick, it could have been there for many hours :> We're probably okay, we stayed out of the tall grass, but I don't know how often people get them when walking on short grass or on a hiking trail. We did leave the trail occasionally, but never strayed far. But yeah, it's likely we would have seen a spot, especially if it had a bullseye pattern ( ... )
