If we didn't see a (hypothetical) tick, it could have been there for many hours :> We're probably okay, we stayed out of the tall grass, but I don't know how often people get them when walking on short grass or on a hiking trail. We did leave the trail occasionally, but never strayed far. But yeah, it's likely we would have seen a spot, especially if it had a bullseye pattern.

Many of my university and childhood friends don't even have steady partners, let alone kids. Not sure if we're a demographic anomaly, or part of a trend -- obviously people are having fewer kids these days, but it's still an odd pattern. It doesn't bother me personally because I can only take kids in measured doses ^_^ I might be seeing my nephew again this weekend because my sister and her family are visiting Toronto, but my sister hasn't told me her plans.

I dunno, over here they actually watch customers pretty sharply, and will stop you if they think you've shoplifted (or sometimes security will spot a suspicious person and then call over the PA system -- in coded language -- to alert other employees if they think someone's stealing). Obviously I didn't steal anything, but I probably did seem pretty sketchy :>
